The 3am Lonely (A Haiku)

Two cups of red wine,
lovers dream atop bar stools
of young streets in Spain.

Passing the Parkway (A Poem)

The summer is passing
Like a long arm swaying
From the passenger seat
Of a car on a four-lane highway.
And I ride alongside you
Like a virtue, a wild nag
That grinds my eyesight
To the moon-ground recollections
Of dreams that buzzed in June
Now as splintered as rosewood
And littered of memories
That irk my nervous hands
Like a nose itch that won’t wipe away.
The willow vision of a boy in blond hair,
Long fingers calling out to push my
Uncomprehending legs into
Fancy cars, against the guardrails
Of our first vacation,
Across a beach full of crab tracks
And the dismembered embers of the sea,
Into car seats full of long rides
Doomed to wedge their highway grit
Between our palms, the hold of our hands
And blow the hinge of our hearts apart
In the night air as thin as a smoke tendril,
Light as an up-rooted dandelion hair.

Just Checking In!

For anyone who reads my blog (or poetry) and has wondered what happened to me, I've just been very busy lately!

In addition to having a two week cold that has all but drained me, my latest grad class just started and my Arianna just started school again, so things have been a bit hectic on the home front.

I have also been working on a few little blog projects, two book review blogs (Gothic Romance Reviews and YA Horror Revisited) and my self-development blog (Live Write Now).  I welcome you to visit all three!

I think the two book review blogs are pretty self-explanatory, but 'Live Write Now' is a blog I've created to help others find a deeper, more meaningful experience and purpose in their lives, particularly with a self-expressive emphasis.  So if you enjoy writing, journaling, or any type of the arts, I'm sure you'll enjoy my posts and can find some helpful information there.

I hope I can find time to begin poetry-writing again soon.  I do miss my creative writing and networking with all the wonderful bloggers I've met  via the prompt writing sites!
